100 new millionaires among the winners

Montréal, December 18, 2024 — The lottery has made many people happy this year. As 2024 draws to a close, Loto-Québec announces that Quebecers have already won a total of 1.7 billion dollars, and 100 of them have even become millionaires—that’s 30 more than last year! In 2023, lottery winners received nearly 1.6 billion dollars in prizes.

The largest jackpots paid out during the year:

  • In September, a Revenu Québec employee and his spouse from the Capitale-Nationale region won $50,000,000 with Lotto 6/49.
  • Still in September, a retired teacher from Outaouais won half of the record $80,000,000 Lotto Max jackpot.
  • Two weeks ago, a Montréal resident discovered he’d won $40,000,000 with Lotto Max while at work. He immediately announced he was retiring and treated his colleagues to a pizza lunch.
  • In October, Lady Luck brought together six strangers who shared $32,000,000 with a Formule groupe Lotto 6/49 ticket purchased in Montérégie.
  • During the year, the $1,000 a day for life Grande Vie top prize was awarded four times, including to a Lanaudière resident, who received his prize on Halloween.
  • The $5,000,000 Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot was awarded eight times in various regions of Québec.
  • The Gagnant à vie scratch ticket made it possible for nine lucky winners to receive $1,000 a week for life. “It feels like winning a lifetime of relief,” confided one of the winners.
  • Televised lottery game contestants have won seven jackpots, including a record jackpot of $1,527,000 on La Poule aux œufs d’or.
