Lotto 6/49A Revenu Québec employee wins $50,000,000 with his spouse and plans to keep working
Montréal, September 3, 2024 — Capitale-Nationale couple Mohamed Karim Mamlouk and Insaf Bach Werdiane took home the $50,000,000 Gold Ball Jackpot in the August 28 Lott 6/49 draw. Since it launched in 2022, this is the second time this jackpot has been won in Québec.
Media representatives attended the celebration at the Sprint convenience store on Boulevard de la Chaudière, where the ticket was purchased.
“The lottery has made 65 new millionaires in Québec since the beginning of the year. And chance keeps smiling on lotto 6/49 players—in addition to the $50,000,000 jackpot we’re awarding today, the Classic Jackpot has been won three times since June!” said Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec.

Highlights
- The day after the draw, Mamlouk checked the ticket with the Lotteries app just before leaving for work. He was stunned to see an impressive $50,000,000 displayed on his cell phone screen!
- He immediately called his spouse, but she couldn’t take the call because she was already at work. He reached her after several attempts and told her, “We just won $50 million!” Werdiane still has trouble believing the exciting news today.
- The day he found out he’d become a multimillionaire, Mamlouk was entrusted with new responsibilities at work and had an excellent day. So, he’s not planning on saying “bye-bye, boss!” just yet and hopes to keep a similar lifestyle. The couple plans to take some time to think about what they will do with the sum they just won.
- Mamlouk and Werdiane regularly buy lottery tickets together: He takes care of Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 tickets, and she buys Grande Vie tickets.
- Even though Mamlouk works at Revenu Québec, Loto-Québec confirmed that lottery wins are not taxable!
