Highlights (Jean-Guy Trottier’s win)

  • Trottier has been purchasing his lottery tickets on lotoquebec.com for five years now.
  • He saw the email informing him he’d won early in the morning after the draw. “No way, it can’t be!” the winner’s spouse said when he showed her the “Congratulations, you win $1,000,000!” message.
  • He held a phone conference with his children at 6 p.m. sharp that evening— he wanted them all to learn the good news at the same time.
  • Trottier plans to use his windfall to go to Italy and visit Rome with his spouse.

  • Denise Bélanger won the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize in the May 4 Lotto 6/49 draw. She received her price at the store where she purchased it, the Dépanneur Métabetchouan in Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix—owned by her daughter!
  • Lastly, Jean-Rodrigue Tremblay won $25,000 a year for life in the May 27 Grande Vie draw with a ticket purchased in the Jonquière borough. “I never thought this would happen to me!” the retiree had said upon claiming his prize.
