Montréal, January 16, 2024 – Residents of Chaudière-Appalaches had a successful run with lottery games in 2023: Five prizes of $1,000,000 or more were awarded in the region last year. What’s more, the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot, worth $5,000,000, was won on December 23 by a selection sold in Saint-Apollinaire and was awarded on January 3! In addition, 21 prizes of $100,000 or more and 72 prizes of $25,000 or more were awarded in the region via Loto-Québec prize claim offices.
Several multimillionaires
- The year 2023 started with a bang in the region. On January 9, Laurier Lapointe won the grand prize of $1,000 a day for life with Grande Vie, with a ticket purchased on lotoquebec.com. He didn’t hesitate to opt for the lump sum prize of $7,000,000: VIDEO (in French).
- You could say that Dave Lachance, winner of the $5,000,000 Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot, certainly lives up to his name! He discovered his stroke of luck the morning after the July 19 draw by visiting Loto-Québec’s Lotteries app. Mr. Lachance purchased his ticket at the Couche-Tard at 662 Route Bégin in Saint-Anselme: VIDEO (in French).
The year 2023 ended on a high note for Hervé Bédard and Louise Plante Bédard, who also won the $5,000,000 Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot in the December 23 draw. After arriving at Loto-Québec, Mr. Bédard confided that he hadn’t been this excited since his wedding day! The local couple, who have been married for 50 years, plan to use their winnings to treat their children and go on fishing trips. The winning ticket was purchased at Brunet pharmacy, which is located on Route 273 in Saint-Apollinaire. The retailer will receive a commission equal to 1% of the overall prize, or $50,000.
