LotteryNew millionaires in Montréal
Montréal, March 17, 2026 — It’s been a mild winter for Montréal residents who’ve won $1,000,000 prizes. When they visited Loto-Québec, some of these winners, who bought their tickets in Anjou, Pointe-Claire, and Pierrefonds, shared their story and told us the plans they’re looking to realize with their windfall.
A special day
- Maria Vommaro won $1,000,000 with Extra on March 3.
- She remembered to check her lottery ticket when her spouse told her the draw results were scrolling on the TV screen. At the Loto-Québec office, she revealed that she and her husband were “just as excited” to see the Extra top-prize-winning number on their ticket as they had been when they found out they were expecting!
- The new millionaire’s plans include spoiling her family and paying off her mortgage.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Pharmaprix pharmacy located at 8222 Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis in Anjou.
Hard time believing
- Shamila Ahmadi and Mohammad Enzebati won $1,000,000 in the January 29 Banco draw.
- According to this couple, he buys the tickets, but she brings them luck!
- Enzabati checked the Banco ticket at a self-serve ticket checker. When he saw they’d won a million, he immediately shared the news with Ahmadi, who was at work.
- She had a hard time believing it, right up until they received the prize from Loto-Québec!
- The couple plans to use their windfall to pay off their mortgage and travel to Spain.
The winning ticket was purchased at Supermarché Laviolette, on Avenue Baie-de-Valois in Pointe-Claire.
“Boys, check out what’s happening to me!”
- Epaminondas Roussakis also won a top prize with Extra.
- He was thrilled when he checked his ticket for the January 22 draw on the Loto-Québec app. He thought he’d won $1,000, so he went to get his glasses—and realized he was winning a million instead!
- The winner says he immediately called for his sons to join him. “I screamed, ‘Boys, check out what's happening to me!’ They didn’t believe me at first. I checked the ticket in front of them to show them it was real!” he recalled.
- This prize is very timely for the winner, who is close to retirement. He plans on visiting his family in Greece.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Maxi & Cie grocery store, located at 4849 Boulevard Saint-Jean in Pierrefonds.
Each retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
