$3,000,000A truck driver becomes a millionaire, but retirement will wait
Montréal, May 5, 2026 — Montréal resident Gérald Côté took home one of the $3,000,000 grand prizes of the 30X scratch ticket. The winner says he has no intention of quitting his job. He has several plans in the works, including restoring a vintage car.
Highlights
- Gérald Côté enjoys playing scratch games that feature multipliers, such as 30X.
- The winner returned to the grocery store where he’d purchased the ticket to have it validated. When he discovered what prize he’d won, he started seeing numbers on the self-serve terminal, first 3, then 30, 300, until he finally thought, “There are too many zeros!”
- So, he went to the counter to have an attendant validate the ticket and saw $3,000,000 appear on the terminal screen. The whole store was ecstatic!
- Côté’s not planning on retiring right away—he loves driving for work.
- The vintage car aficionado will start working on a car restoration project. He’ll buy a ‘60s Corvette with his windfall.
The winning ticket was purchased at Provigo, located at Place du Commerce in Île-des-Sœurs, Montréal. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $30,000.
