“I checked it at least 10 times!”A Bas-Saint-Laurent resident wins big with Lotto 6/49

Montréal, February 6, 2026 — Luck recently smiled on Bas-Saint-Laurent resident Serge Vaillancourt, who discovered that the Lotto 6/49 ticket he’d purchased at Sayabec's Dépanneur A+ earned him a $1,000,000 prize in the January 17 draw.

Vaillancourt checked his ticket on the Lotteries app the day after the draw. He couldn’t believe the amount that appeared on the screen. “I checked it at least 10 times!” he admitted. Then, he carefully stored the winning ticket in his safe until his appointment at the Loto-Québec head office.

The Dépanneur A+ will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.

More Bas-Saint-Laurent winners!

Just like Vaillancourt, who bought his winning ticket in La Matapédia, Claude Charrier and Richard Deschenes each won a tidy sum with a ticket purchased in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. They purchased their Célébration 2026 tickets in La Matanie and Kamouraska, respectively.

Claude Charrier received his lucky ticket for his birthday. The day after the January 11 draws, his spouse compared the ticket numbers with the draw results on the Loto-Québec gaming website. Seeing that Charrier won a Mercedes-Benz EQB 300, she asked him to join her so she could share the news. Charrier opted for the lump sum prize of $80,000 instead, which will help him towards his upcoming retirement.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Couche-Tard convenience store at the corner of Avenue Du Phare Est and Avenue Jacques-Cartier in Matane.

Richard Deschenes won a $25,000 prize with the Célébration 2026 daily draws. He saw the $25,000 on his phone screen when he checked his ticket and said, “Well, look at that. A sweet little $ 25,000!” The forty-something has already started renovating his garage in a 70s style, and part of the winnings will help him continue with this project.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Marché Ami du Quartier grocery store on Rue Rouleau in La Pocatière.
