Lotto 6/49A family splits $2,500,000 and plans to follow in its ancestors’ footsteps in Scotland
Montréal, February 20, 2026 — A Bas-Saint-Laurent family received a pleasant surprise when their Lotto 6/49 ticket won them $2,500,000, a share of the Classic Jackpot drawn on January 31! The group counts eight people.
“Look, Monique! We won $2.5 million!”
- The three-generation family group has been playing the same numbers with Lotto 6/49 for a very long time.
- “Lottery captain” Julien Ross, who bought the lucky ticket at a convenience store in Mont-Joli, was the one to check the results on lotoquebec.com. Since he knows the group's combination by heart, he quickly realized that they’d won the jackpot!
- Ross raised his hands in the air at the same time as his sister, Monique Ross, arrived at his house. “Look, Monique! We won $2.5 million!” he said. He then called the other winners individually to share the news.
- The group met at the Salon de jeux de Québec on February 11 to receive their prize in a joyful celebration.
“Bye-bye, boss,” and hello, Scotland!
Here’s how the winners plan to enjoy their prize:
- Ross said “Bye-bye, boss” earlier than he’d expected when he found out he won! His brother-in-law, Michel Beaulieu, will reduce his working hours.
- Lina Belanger, Beaulieu's spouse, wants to organize a family trip to Scotland to follow in the footsteps of the Ross family ancestors, and, who knows, write new pages of history!
- Ross’s son, Pierre-Luc Bélanger Ross, will buy his first house with his spouse, Stéphanie Bouchard-Gagné.
The winning ticket was purchased at Tabagie Rivard, located at 33 Avenue Doucet in Mont-Joli. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $25,000.
The eight winners:
- Michel Beaulieu
- Lina Belanger
- Sylvie Bélanger
- Pierre-Luc Bélanger Ross
- Stephanie Bouchard-Gagné
- Gilberte Larue
- Julien Ross
- Monique Ross
More Bas-Saint-Laurent Lotto 6/49 wins
Another Bas-Saint-Laurent resident, Serge Vaillancourt, became a millionaire with a Lotto 6/49 ticket purchased at the Dépanneur A+ convenience store in Sayabec, in La Matapédia. “I checked it at least 10 times!” He had told us about his ticket for the January 17 draw.
