LotteryA couple wins $1,000,000 with a ticket purchased in Châteauguay

Montréal, October 16, 2025 — Donald Darou and Tamra Grinsell, a couple from Montérégie, won one of the $1,000,000 jackpots offered by the En argent scratch ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at the Honolulu convenience store on Boulevard Saint-Joseph in Châteauguay.

Donald Darou and Tamra Grinsell bought the winning ticket while out for a drive. Back at home, Darou started scratching the ticket and discovered they’d won the prize associated with number 35. “I thought maybe we’d won $10 or $20,” he explained. But it was actually a $20,000 prize! The winner said to himself, “No, that can’t be!” and then repeated “$20,000” several times, yet still couldn't believe it.

However, the game wasn’t over yet. He kept scratching the ticket and discovered a 50x multiplier on the same line. Talk about a surprise! The couple’s prize was multiplied by 50, so they’d won $1,000,000! “I was so nervous, I couldn't do the mental math. I had to use a calculator to understand how much it really was!” Darou joked.

Thrilled with their win, Darou and Grinsell plan to use their windfall to spoil their two daughters.
