Montréal, March 20, 2025 — Montérégie resident Carole Chagnon won the $1,000,000 top prize in the February 26 Extra draw. With this tidy sum, she’ll finally be able to say, "Bye-bye, boss!” and retire!
Highlights
• Carole Chagnon always says yes to Extra when purchasing her lottery tickets.
• One day, before going to work, she checked her ticket and thought she’d won a $100,000 prize. She announced the news to her husband, who asked her if she was sure since there’s no $100,000 prize in the Extra draw. He checked the ticket himself and realized that she hadn’t won $100,000 but $1,000,000! Chagnon quickly shared the news with her son and her sister.
• Thanks to this windfall, Chagnon will be able to retire earlier than expected. She also plans to buy a new car.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Couche-Tard convenience store at 65 Rue de l’Aqueduc in Varennes. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
