Montréal, May 14, 2025 — Two major prizes were recently won with tickets purchased at Dépanneur Formule 1 on Boulevard Gilles-Villeneuve in Berthierville. Gilles Piette, from Berthierville, won a $400,000 grand prize as a contestant in the La Poule aux œufs d’or show aired on April 20, while another resident of the region, Jean Darveau, won $1,000,000 in the April 2 Lotto 6/49 draw. Both winners recently marked their windfalls with a celebratory event at Dépanneur Formule 1.
Highlights on Gilles Piette
- This is Gilles Piette's second appearance in the La Poule aux œufs d’or show. He’d already won $22,500 a few years ago.
- After winning the top prize on the April 20 show, Piette jokingly said to Julie Houle, “See you in five years!”
- To watch the show in which Piette appeared, go to the Loteries Loto-Québec YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/YUCik2L6yC8. Piette appears between the 14th and 21st minutes.
Highlights on Jean Darveau
- When he checked his ticket with the Loto-Québec app a few days after the draw, Darveau discovered he’d won $1,000,000 with Lotto 6/49.
- “I showed my spouse the screen, and she told me to stop joking around! I think she only really believed me when I received the cheque, because I always play tricks with my tickets,” he mentioned during his visit to the Loto-Québec head office.
- The retiree plans to use his windfall to go on a few road trips across Québec in a motor home.
