Montréal, July 4, 2025 — Forty-year-old Montérégie resident Sophie Bazinet won $1,000,000 in the May 23 Québec Max draw.

Highlights

• Sophie Bazinet usually buys Formule groupe lottery tickets, but for the May 23 draw, she opted for an individual ticket.
• Since she usually keeps her tickets in the inside pocket of her coat, it wasn’t until two weeks after the draw that she took the time to check her ticket using the Loto-Québec app. When she saw the amount displayed, she initially thought there was a mistake: “I restarted my phone at least five times!”
• Afterwards, she texted her spouse: “Call me right now!” She admitted that she’d never normally send such a message.
• Sophie plans to use her windfall to give her home a little TLC. A trip to the tropics is also on the cards for next winter.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Pasquier grocery store in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
