Lotto 6/49Just a few days before the holidays, relatives and friends win $5,000,000!
Montréal, December 15, 2025 — A group of 19 relatives and friends won the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot in the December 3 draw. That’s $5,000,000, just in time for the holidays! The winners, most of whom live in the Côte-Nord and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions, celebrated their win together in Québec City. “I’m happier sharing the prize with the group than I would’ve been had I won it alone,” said group leader Jean-Guy Lavoie.
Looking for winners – Another $5,000,000 jackpot won here
The $5,000,000 Classic Jackpot in the Saturday, December 13 draw was also won in Québec! The Formule groupe ticket was sold in the Laval region. Loto-Québec is urging all Québec players to check their tickets.
“The Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot was won in Québec 10 times in 2025. It's wonderful to see families and friends sharing a big prize as the year comes to an end,” says Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec.
“Looks like our numbers!”
- This lottery group, formed over thirty years ago, has always played Lotto 6/49 with the same combination.
- Group leader Jean-Guy Lavoie bought the ticket at a convenience store in Baie-Comeau.
- His spouse, Marie-Christine Jean, first saw the draw results on television. “It looks like our numbers!” she said before urging Lavoie to put on his glasses.
- The couple was thrilled when checking their ticket on the Loto-Québec app.
- Once they confirmed the excellent news, they called each member of the group to announce that they were splitting $5,000,000.
Unexpected gifts
- Lavoie and Jean’s children, Cindy Berger and Pascal Lavoie, weren’t expecting to hear such news. Their parents had always gotten them a spot in the group without their knowledge! Berger and Lavoie were amazed to discover that they held a share of the jackpot.
- With their windfall, the winners will be able to treat themselves to some wonderful gifts. Some of their plans include renovations, vehicle purchases, and investments. However, they said that their biggest wish was to spend time with family during the holidays. Lavoie added that it was the perfect time to win the lottery!
The winning ticket was purchased at the Couche-Tard convenience store at 193 Boulevard Lasalle in Baie-Comeau. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $50,000.
A lucky year for Côte-Nord players
Côte-Nord lottery players were especially lucky in 2025. The biggest jackpot of the year so far, $50,000,000 with Lotto Max, was won last September in Bonne-Espérance, in the Basse–Côte-Nord region, crowning 14 multimillionaires. Daniel Gosselin, from the Manicouagan region, won the $1,000 a day for life Grande Vie top prize in the August 25 draw. Finally, Michel Giasson recently took home 1,000,000$ with Lotto 6/49. He’d purchased his winning ticket in Sept-Îles for the November 12 draw.
