14 factory colleagues win $1,000,000 “The party started!”

Montréal, April 8, 2025 — A group of 14 colleagues from a Montréal factory won $1,000,000 in the March 5 Lotto 6/49 draw. The lucky winners, who live in the Lanaudière, Laurentides, Montréal and Montérégie regions, got together at the end of March to celebrate at the Loto-Québec head office.

Highlights

  • Mario Maltais is the leader of the group created ten years ago. He was with two coworkers and fellow winners, Louis Bourdeau and Jean-Denis Claveau, when he checked the ticket worth $1,000,000 on his phone. Initially, he thought they’d won $1,000. “But in the end, there were too many zeros,” he laughed.
  • Bourdeau, the self-proclaimed “new kid on the team,” told us, “I stood up in the control room with both arms in the air.” He added, “It was euphoric, everyone was happy—it was exceptional, really.”
  • The news quickly snowballed. “The party started!” said Maltais, described by his coworkers as someone who’s “always there to lend a hand.”
  • Yannick Cambrini was in a shop choosing a ring for his fiancée when he received the call with the news that his group had won. What a great way to kick off the wedding for the future spouses!
  • The lucky winners, who each pocket $71,432, plan to do renovations, travel to Europe and spoil their loved ones.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Faubourg Boisbriand IGA Extra grocery store in Boisbriand. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
