Extra$1,000,000 in the second attempt

Montréal, August 29, 2025 — A Montérégie and Lanaudière family group of five experienced the thrill of winning a lottery jackpot. The August 8 Extra draw was worth $1,000,000 for the family—on their second group purchase!

Highlights

  • Kevin Lurette decided to create a lottery group with his parents, Irène Landry Lurette and Irenée Lurette, his spouse, Julie Demeule, and her mother, Ada Lauzon.
  • “It’s only the second time we buy a family ticket as a group,” Lurette said.
  • He discovered their win when he checked the ticket using the Loto-Québec app.
  • He told his parents the news first. Lurette said, “I called my father and told them to sit down!”
  • The group members plan to carry out various projects with this windfall. Lurette and his spouse, Demeule, want to invest and renovate their house. Landry Lurette intends to spoil her grandchildren, and her spouse will be able to finish paying for the car he’d just purchased.
  • The family also said they would continue playing the lottery together. They’ve already bought their third ticket!

The winning ticket was purchased at the Pasquier grocery store in Delson, Montérégie. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
