“I’m still on cloud nine!”A Gaspésie resident wins $1,000,000 with a ticket gifted by her best friend

Montréal, March 15, 2024 — Gaspésie resident Beverly Gallan took home the $1,000,000 Jour de chance scratch ticket grand prize in the February 29 draw. Gallan had received the ticket as a gift from her best friend and plans to share the prize with him. “We’ve always said we’d share any lottery prize we won. I’m thrilled to do this with my best friend.” The winning ticket was purchased at the Sprint convenience store in Saint-Siméon-de-Bonaventure.

VIDEO: Watch Beverly Gallan as she recounts how she found out she’d won:

  • Gallan’s best friend, Roger, often gifts her scratch tickets. The lucky winner had the Jour de chance ticket he had given her validated the day after the draw and was stunned to see $1,000,000 on the retailer’s customer display screen. She immediately called Roger, who could hardly believe it!
  • Gallan plans to use her windfall to fulfill her long-standing dream of seeing the Rockies! She’ll also spoil her daughter and grandchildren.

Jour de chance

  • As this is a leap year, February had an extra day. To mark the occasion, Loto-Québec launched the Jour de chance scratch ticket that gave players the chance to win a $100,000 prize every day of February and a $1,000,000 grand prize on February 29.
