“What would you say if we were millionaires?”Two Gaspésie residents celebrate their Extra top prize and plan on retiring early

Montréal, July 11, 2024 — Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine residents Chantal Arsenault and Manon Robichaud won $1,000,000 in the May 22 Extra draw. The two best friends only started playing the lottery together recently, but Lady Luck smiled upon them after two draws!

Chantal Arsenault and Manon Robichaud

Highlights

  • Arsenault convinced Robichaud, her best friend, to play the lottery with her after seeing that two friends had won a hefty amount playing together. Arsenault buys the lottery tickets every Saturday, and Robichaud every Wednesday.
  • When checking their ticket with the Lotteries app, Robichaud saw the $1,000,000 displayed on her phone’s screen. Not wanting to bother her friend at work, she waited until the end of the day to call her and ask, “What would you say if we were millionaires?”
  • The two friends share the same dream: using their windfall to retire earlier.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dépanneur SL, located at 78 Boulevard Perron Ouest in Caplan. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
