Célébration 2024Sébastien Benoit surprises newly millionaire Lanaudière resident

Montréal, January 24, 2024 — Lanaudière resident Pierre Synnott had a very emotional time when he came to Loto-Québec’s office to claim the $1,000,000 prize he won with a Célébration 2024 scratch ticket. In addition to receiving his cheque, he had the wonderful surprise of running into gala host Sébastien Benoit, with whom he’d worked in the 90s.

Highlights

  • Pierre Synnott and Sébastien Benoit are former colleagues. The winner was a security guard at the TQS studios, and the host was a reporter for Flash. It was quite a surprise for Synnott, who was thrilled to see him after all this time—especially under these circumstances!
  • He checked the draw results on lotoquebec.com the day after the gala. He couldn’t believe he’d won $1,000,000, so he called his sister, who also checked the results and confirmed that he did have the winning number.
  • The winner plans to use his windfall to donate to organizations he holds dear. He also plans to travel more often to his native Gaspésie, which he calls “his little corner of the world.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Carrefour de la Pointe Jean Coutu pharmacy in Pointe-aux-Trembles.
