Gift Responsibly CampaignLottery Tickets Aren’t Child’s Play

Montréal, December 2, 2024 — With the holidays around the corner, Loto-Québec reminds its customers that lottery products are inappropriate gifts for children and minors.

Research shows that the earlier a person’s participation exposure to gambling is in childhood (including lottery games), the more likely they are to develop a gambling problem later in life. Gambling exposure during childhood is often through some kind of lottery product, such as lottery tickets or scratch-offs, given to a child by an adult who is unaware of the associated risks.

Our wiseplay.ca website has more information on the topic and available measures and resources.

Loto-Québec has signed on to the National Council of Problem Gambling Gift Responsibly Campaign. All eligible American and Canadian lottery corporations and several international ones have joined the campaign to remind customers that lottery tickets aren’t child’s play.
