Montréal, December 23, 2024 — Centre-du-Québec resident Karine Tanguay won the $1,000,000 jackpot in the November 14 Extra draw. “That's what could happen when you say yes to Extra!” the forty-year-old said upon claiming her prize.

Highlights

• Tanguay discovered she’d won over two weeks after buying her ticket. “I was walking around with a $1,000,000 winning ticket in my purse all this time and didn’t even know it!”
• She asked one of her sons to check the ticket on the Loto-Québec app. When he saw the amount appear on the screen, he said to his mother, “I think something isn’t working—come see!” Tanguay was also uncertain, thinking it was a mistake. It was only the next day that she finally faced the fact she’d indeed won $1,000,000!
• With this windfall, Tanguay plans to invest for her retirement and purchase a new car. “We are already spoiling ourselves, now we’ll spoil ourselves a little more!”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Loto-Québec kiosk in the La Grande Place des Bois-Francs shopping centre in Victoriaville. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
