LotteriesTwo major prize winners in Montérégie

Montréal, November 2, 2021 — Two Montérégie residents took home major winnings in the last few weeks. Respectively, Jonathan Girard and Yvan Gagné won $1,000,000 with Québec Max and $250,000 with Banco.

An unplanned purchase that proved lucky

Jonathan Girard won $1,000,000 in the Québec Max draw on October 12. On his way home from a hunting trip, Jonathan stopped at a convenience store to buy a coffee. His bill wasn’t high enough to be able to pay with his card so he decided to add a lottery ticket. The next day, he checked his ticket using the Lotteries app on his cell phone and realized he’d won a prize. In all his excitement, he thought he’d won $100,000. But then he counted the zeros again and saw he was a millionaire! He’d like to buy himself a house with his winnings, and he’ll take his time before making any other decisions.

The winning ticket was purchased at Marché Désilets, in the municipality of Saint-Hugues. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
