$1,000,000A big win for a young woman from Saguenay—Lac‑Saint‑Jean thanks to Célébration

Montréal, January 27, 2020 – Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean resident Michka Morin-Dufresne was stunned to learn that she’d won one of five $1 million prizes in the January 12, 2020, Célébration draw.

In summary

  • Lottery: Célébration
  • Prize: $1,000,000
  • Draw date: January 12, 2020
  • Winner’s place of residence: Saguenay‒Lac-Saint-Jean
  • Retailer: IGA (150 6e rue, La Baie)
  • The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec office in Québec City

Highlights

  • Michka heard the terminal chime as she waited for a retailer to validate her Célébration 2020 tickets.

  • Convinced it was someone else’s winning ticket, she asked: “Did someone win a million dollars?”

  • The cashier didn't say a word and discretely went to get claim documents. Back at the counter, the employee handed the documents over to Michka and indicated that she couldn’t say the amount out loud; she then slid the ticket and validation slip over to her. That’s when Michka discovered she was a millionaire!

  • Speechless, the lucky winner looked at her spouse and they immediately left the store.

  • Once they arrived at Michka’s mom’s house to tell her the good news, they started crying tears of joy.

  • Michka still has a long way to go before taking retirement, but she said that, since her future is now secure, she will be free to do lots of things.
