$1,000,000 with Lotto 6/49“Your husband became a millionaire this morning!”
Montréal, March 25, 2026 – Montérégie resident Gaston Synnott became a millionaire a few weeks ago, when he took home a $1,000,000 prize in the March 7 Lotto 6/49 draw. Sylvain Brière, also from Montérégie, nabbed $25,000 a year for life in the Grande Vie draw on March 9.
“Your husband became a millionaire this morning!”
- Two days after the Lotto 6/49 draw, Gaston Synnott headed over to a retailer to check his ticket. When he saw the look on the clerk’s face, Gaston asked, “Let me guess. I made 10 bucks this morning?” “Actually, you made $1,000,000. You’re a millionaire!” the clerk replied.
- Back home, Gaston sat for a while in his car thinking about how he was going to tell his wife the news. As he entered the house, he asked her how she was. Finding his behaviour strange, she said, “What’s going on? You’re acting weird.” To which he replied, “Your husband became a millionaire this morning!”
- The lucky winner said he has been feeling “as excited as a little kid” since learning about his prize. He plans to use the money to spoil himself and his children.
- The winning ticket was purchased at the Maxi grocery store on Avenue Victoria in Saint-Lambert. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
Sylvain Brière
“I ended up eating cold toast!”
- The day after the Grande Vie draw, Sylvain Brière checked his ticket using the Loto-Québec app at breakfast. That’s when he found out that he won $25,000 a year for life. “I forgot all about breakfast for a while and ended up eating cold toast!” he said with a smile upon claiming his prize.
- He shared the good news with some friends and family, but, since Sylvain has a reputation for being a joker, some of them didn’t believe him at first!
- An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Sylvain had just ordered the bike of his dreams. This win will allow him to realize that dream without a second thought about the cost.
- The winning ticket was purchased at the Marché Saint-Hubert convenience store on Chemin de Chambly, in Longueuil.
