Montréal, September 25, 2024 — Loto-Québec proudly supports Québec art and culture. Various visual arts initiatives, such as showcasing the works of the Collection Loto-Québec and encouraging emerging artists, bear witness to this commitment.

Several exhibitions will feature works from the Loto-Québec corporate art collection during Les Journées de la culture:

Voir bleu

Loto-Québec head office, through the entrance on 505 Avenue du Président-Kennedy in Montréal

The Collection Loto-Québec manager, Manon Pouliot, curates the Voir bleu exhibition, which aims to create links between the place of the colour blue in our daily lives and how artists use it to express their emotions and the environment that surrounds them. The exhibition is built around five themes: abstract blue, nature blue, optic blue, committed blue and emerging blue, for which young artists were invited to lend their voices.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet some of the artists and discuss all things blue on:

• Saturday, September 28, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Judith Berry, Rafael Sottolichio and Wendy-Alexina Vancol or
• Sunday, September 29, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Pierre Blanchette and Sfiya

Registration for these activities is required on the Les Journées de la culture website.

Québec artists scratch a collective work

Loto-Québec strives to showcase Québec creators and their work. It entrusted four artists with the mission to create a collective work using a technique it knows well—scratching—and one colour—blue. Two established artists, Judith Berry and Rafael Sottolichio, and two emerging artists, Berirouche Feddal and Wendy-Alexina Vancol, worked together in a workshop over a few days to create their pieces using a shared technique. Their beautiful creations were brought together and are displayed at Place des Arts from September 18 to October 7. The public is invited to take in this installation showcasing Québec talent.

Vues du fleuve

At the Adélard centre in Frelighsburg

Curated by mother-daughter duo Manon Barbeau and Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, the Vues du fleuve exhibition shows 36 prints from the Collection Loto-Québec and features an original, intimate and moving dialogue written and narrated by the creators. Together, the visual and literary works offer a unique poetic experience. The exhibition was designed in partnership with Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec in 2022 and has been touring the province since.

Sur les branches de Frédéric Back

Centre sportif Mégantic Art Gallery in Lac Mégantic

Loto-Québec is presenting some of its collection’s works in the Sur les branches de Frédéric Back exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Commission des arts, de la culture et du patrimoine de Lac Mégantic, marking the artist’s 100th birthday. This group exhibition is rooted in a collective desire to show our love for the planet, our environment and the nature all around us.

About the Collection Loto-Québec

The Collection Loto-Québec is one of the largest corporate art collections in the province. It comprises nearly 5,000 works, including prints, sculptures, paintings, sketches, objects and photographs created by Québec artists. 

In addition to showcasing the invaluable cultural heritage it represents, the Collection sets up initiatives and partnerships to foster creation, especially with emerging artists.
