Québec Max and Québec 49They become millionaires while on vacation!
Montréal, August 9, 2024 — Some vacationers had quite a surprise recently thanks to lottery tickets purchased on the road. André Jubinville and Isabelle Langlois, from Montréal, won $1,000,000 in the July 23 Québec Max draw with a ticket purchased in Berthierville. A few days later, Montérégie resident Martin Therrien took home the $2,000,000 top prize in the July 30 Québec 49 draw with a ticket he bought in Lévis.

“So tell me, would you like to be a millionaire?”
- In the Jubinville-Langlois couple, Jubinville is the one who purchases lottery tickets. In a way, it’s thanks to him that the pair have become millionaires.
- After a pontoon boat ride, Jubinville stopped at the Voisin convenience store at 1181 Avenue Gilles-Villeneuve in Berthierville to purchase a Québec Max ticket.
- A few days after returning home, the couple checked the ticket at a retailer. Jubinville saw a series of zeros appear on the screen of the self-serve ticket checker. Overjoyed, he headed to the cash register and said, “I think I’ve won a million.”
- Langlois, who had stayed in the car, received a phone call from her spouse asking, “So tell me, would you like to be a millionaire?” At first, she thought it was a joke, but it really was true.
- She was so emotional she wept tears of joy and called her son. “Mom, you’re crying. I don’t get it!” he said.
- The couple plans to use their windfall to sell their condo and buy a house, as well as spoil their son.
The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
The top prize after a 4,000 km motorbike ride
- For Therrien, purchasing lottery tickets while on vacation is a long-standing tradition.
- He purchased the lucky ticket at Marché Express at 1220 Chemin Olivier in Lévis at the end of a motorbike road trip with friends. The trio, which included Therrien’s son, had just ridden 4,000 km across eastern Québec and the Maritimes—in 5 days!
- The new multimillionaire plans to use his Québec 49 top prize to build a house with his son and take his spouse to the Caribbean. He’d also like to buy a new motorcycle for longer trips and is already eyeing the American East Coast.
The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $20,000.
