Gagnant à vieA Bas-Saint-Laurent resident wins $1,000 a week for life and retires!
Montréal, July 29, 2024 — Bas-Saint-Laurent resident Renaud Caron recently took home the Gagnant à vie Limited Edition scratch ticket’s top prize of $1,000 a week for life. The day after he found out he’d won, he told his employer he was retiring.
Highlights
- On a Saturday evening, Caron went to the convenience store where he usually buys his lottery tickets to check some of them.
- After validating the Gagnant à vie Limited Edition ticket, the attendant told him he’d won a lifetime annuity. Incredulous, he asked that she call the store’s owner, whom he knows well. The owner confirmed the great news, “Yep, Renaud, you’re a millionaire!”
- Caron immediately texted one of his brothers who lives nearby to tell him he’d won the lottery. The news spread like wildfire across the family, and everyone got together to celebrate the win.
- The new retiree opted for the $1,000,000 lump-sum prize rather than the lifetime annuity. In addition to retiring, he’d like to buy a new car and spoil his loved ones.
The winning ticket was purchased at Dépanneur A+, located at 76 Rue Lacroix in Sayabec. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
