Giving Back Is a Win-WinLoto-Québec supports hundreds of local organizations

Montréal, November 28, 2023 — On this GivingTuesday, the day that recognizes generosity worldwide, Loto-Québec is happy to highlight its support of hundreds of causes that Quebecers hold dear. This fall, the corporation donated over $1,000,000 to local non-profit organizations (NPOs).

These donations were possible thanks to the initiatives under the Giving Back Is a Win-Win Program, which are only some of the many ways in which the corporation supports NPOs. Last year, its total contributions amounted to $13 million.

“At Loto-Québec, giving back is central to our mission. We’re proud to support communities by giving back to NPOs, all of which play a vital role in our society. I want to thank our employees, partners and customers for joining our generosity appeal through our charitable initiatives, promotions and products,” said Jean-François Bergeron, President and Chief Executive Officer at Loto-Québec.

Loto-o-suivant: The lottery with a cause!

The Loto-o-suivant charitable lottery game was back for a third straight year at retailers and online. Overall, $500,000 was donated to Quebec charities selected by the winners.

With this $2.50 scratch ticket, each of the 50 winners got to take home a $10,000 grand prize and choose a charitable organization to which Loto-Québec donated another $10,000.

La Poule aux œufs d’or, more generous than ever

A special edition of the La Poule aux œufs d’or game show aired on November 26. During this episode, the six contestants not only had the chance to win a prize but also to choose a charitable organization to which Loto-Québec will soon give a donation equivalent to the prize won, up to $100,000.

Casinos and gaming halls lend Moisson food banks a hand

Loto-Québec casinos and gaming halls also contributed to the cause by donating over $400,000 to Moisson food banks across Québec throughout the year.

Over four weeks in November, slot machine promotions at the Montréal, Lac-Leamy, Charlevoix and Mont-Tremblant casinos left several clients $10,000 richer. Moisson food banks in these regions received the same amounts. The Québec City and Trois-Rivières gaming halls offered $2,500 prizes every week.

Gaming establishments support many NPOs

Loto-Québec’s network bingo halls held a special promotion in October, during which NPOs affiliated with the winning hall received $25,000 when a player won the $50,000 enhanced jackpot. As a result, a few dozen NPOs received a total of $100,000. Kinzo halls also donated to NPOs whenever an additional prize was won. Kinzo and lottery video retailers also had the chance to give to NPOs thanks to special initiatives.

Entraide: Employee generosity

Loto-Québec employees’ generosity shone through with their enthusiastic involvement in the Entraide campaign, which is part of the Government of Québec’s appeal to solidarity. Nearly $175,000 has been raised so far. Donations to Entraide are distributed according to the donor’s wishes between Centraide du Québec locations, HealthPartners-Québec and its member organizations and the Québec division of the Canadian Red Cross

Loto-Québec: Giving back is a win-win

Loto-Québec and its employees have always been committed to giving back to the community and acting in the interest of all Quebecers. This fall’s initiatives complement the many support and solidarity projects the corporation sets up every year, such as the partnerships with Fondation Les Petits rois and AlterGo.
