$1,000,000 with ExtraA Saturday that’s out of the ordinary for a Mauricie couple!

Montréal, June 2, 2023 — Mauricie residents Luc Mineau and Lynda Benoit won $1,000,000 at the May 12 Extra draw. After finding out about their grand prize the next day, the couple’s Saturday routine turned into a day to remember! Thanks to the windfall, Mineau plans to retire, and the pair wants to organize a trip down south with their family.

Highlights

  • In the Mineau-Benoit couple, Luc Mineau is the one who plays the lottery. He plays Double Jeu Max with Extra. “I always say yes to Extra... $1 to get a million, that’s definitely worth it!”
  • They discovered their Extra win on Saturday morning, May 13. “I was outside getting ready to mow the lawn when I checked the ticket. I had to check it twice to be sure!” said Mineau.
  • Lynda Benoit told us how she learned the news, “I was mopping the floors when Luc came in and said, ‘Take a look at this!’ but I couldn’t read the amount on the screen. ‘Put your glasses on! You’ll see!’ he told me.”
  • The winner put cleaning the house on hold, but “Luc found the courage to mow the lawn!” she laughed.
  • Then, the couple told their family and they all celebrated together with lobster and sparkling wine!

The winning ticket was purchased at the Ultramar Dépan Express, on Boulevard Est in Maskinongé. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
