Montréal, January 27, 2023 — Montréal resident Gilles Croteau took home $1,000,000 at the December 20 Québec Max draw. The lucky winner claimed his prize at the beginning of the year, calling it a “great and lovely surprise.” He plans to invest the million dollars he won.

- Gilles Croteau purchases at least one lottery ticket a week. He won his prize through a Double Jeu Max ticket he bought shortly before the holidays.
- He found out he had won $1,000,000 after scanning his ticket in a self-serve ticket checker at a gas station.
- Mr. Croteau had the store clerk validate his ticket and even received the manager’s congratulations.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Petro-Canada station on Boulevard Pitfield, in Pierrefonds. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
