Montréal, August 7, 2023 — Two Estrie residents claimed major lottery prizes within a few days of each other. On July 14, Rock Dion claimed a $1,000,000 prize won with an Extra ticket purchased in Sherbrooke, and Richard Racine claimed the same amount less than a week later with a Lotto Max ticket purchased online.

Rock Dion likes to play Lotto Max to try his luck. For the May 26 draw, he chose to add Extra. “I never usually add Extra. I don’t know what came over me that day, but I asked for it to be added!” That turned out to be a winning decision, as he took home the $1,000,000 prize, which he’ll use to spoil himself. The lucky ticket was purchased at the Petro-Canada located at 5005 Boulevard Industriel, in Sherbrooke.

When he checked his account on lotoquebec.com—as he does the day after every draw—Richard Racine was stunned to see that he had won what he believed to be $1,000 with a Lotto Max ticket. After putting his glasses on, he realized that he had won $1,000,000 instead. “I can’t believe it!” he exclaimed, before waking up his wife to share the great news. To begin, Racine plans to invest his major windfall. Then, he’ll take his time deciding what comes next!
