$1,000,000An Estrie resident claims the Extra grand prize 11 months after the draw

Montréal, October 21, 2022 — Denis Brunelle, an Estrie resident, is not a man in a hurry. The proof? He claimed a $1,000,000 Extra grand prize 11 months after the draw date! The lucky ticket was dated November 5, 2021, and Brunelle collected his prize on October 6, 2022. The winner plans to use this tidy sum to buy a house on the water’s edge, work fewer hours and enjoy life!

Highlights

  • A few weeks after the draw on November 5, 2021, Brunelle discovered he had won $1,000,000 with Extra.
  • The employee who did the validation was so surprised that he thought he had a ticket worth $1,000!
  • When he got into his car, Brunelle read the validation slip that the employee had given him with his winning ticket. That was when the lucky winner realized he’d won $1,000,000, not $1,000!
  • Self-employed, he had to travel for work and he waited several months before claiming his prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Boni-Soir of the Shell station located on Rue Church, in Cowansville. The retailer will receive a commission equal to 1% of the overall prize, i.e. $10,000.
