Highlights

  • On the Saturday morning after the draw, Gervais checked the winning ticket with the Lotteries app while her husband was making breakfast.
  • Gervais told us that despite having seen $1,000 000 on-screen, “Monsieur was sceptical.” After comparing their Lotto Max ticket selections against the Maxmillions winning selection, Pion had to admit: “Well, this might actually be true!”
  • The winners kept quiet over the weekend, but they broke the news to a few people on the following Monday. The first to know were Pion’s boss, Gervais’s sister and the owner of La Place Water grocery.
  • Pion had bought the ticket at the rue Gosselin grocery store in Waterville on the way to a volleyball game. The retailer will receive a $10,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.
