Montréal, January 15, 2021 — Several Quebecers had a real stroke of luck when they became millionaires over the holidays: Capitale-Nationale resident François Delisle won the $50,000,000 jackpot in the December 22 Lotto Max draw, while Laval resident Van Thanh Tran won the $28,936,328 jackpot in the December 19 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“In 2020, Loto-Québec paid out 108 prizes of $1,000,000 or more to lottery winners. This includes two record jackpots of $70,000,000—the largest amount ever awarded in Québec—and one $55,000,000 jackpot,” points out Isabelle Jean, Loto-Québec’s President of Operations – Lotteries, and Vice-President of Public Affairs.

2020 highlights

• Loto-Québec paid out 108 prizes of $1,000,000 or more to lottery winners in 2020, compared to 88 of these prizes in 2019.
• The Gagnant à vie and Grande Vie lottery games provided 16 lucky winners with a lifetime annuity.
• Quebecers won a 19.7% share of the prizes of $1,000,000 or more that were won by Lotto Max and Lotto Max players. They were very fortunate considering that the share of tickets they buy is lower compared to the country as a whole.
• In Québec, the proportion of jackpot winning tickets for these two Canada-wide lottery games was 32.1%, which is also higher than the province’s market share.

Montréal resident Shu Ping Li won the province’s second record $70,000,000 jackpot in the October 9 Lotto Max draw.

$55,000,000 in the October 30 Lotto Max draw – Outaouais

Outaouais resident Linda Phillips won the $55,000,000 jackpot in the October 30 Lotto Max draw.

$50,000,000 in the December 22 Lotto Max draw – Montréal

Capitale-Nationale resident François Delisle won the $50,000,000 jackpot in the December 22 Lotto Max draw.
