$1,000,000Montérégie man becomes a millionaire with Extra by taking his car in for repairs

Montréal, August 30, 2021 – Marc Brosseau has a habit of stashing lottery tickets that he hasn’t checked yet on top of the sun visor in his car. Before taking his car in for repairs, this Montérégie resident used the Lotteries app to check the small stack that had accumulated, and discovered an Extra ticket that had won a $1,000,000 prize in the August 17 draw.

Highlights

  • On his way to the garage, Marc stopped at a retailer to confirm that he was indeed a millionaire.
  • The winner’s incredible luck was actually due to a mistake. Marc had asked to add Extra to two Lotto 6/49 tickets. By mistake, his retailer printed out Lotto Max tickets instead. The clerk was willing to cancel them, but the winner decided to keep them. It was one of these Lotto Max tickets with Extra that made him a millionaire!
  • He is planning to use his prize money to make some investments.
  • The winning ticket was purchased at a Couche-Tard convenience store in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The retailer will receive a $10,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.

In summary

  • Lottery: Extra
  • Prize: $1,000,000
  • Category: Grand prize
  • Draw date: August 17, 2021
  • Winner’s place of residence: Montérégie
  • Retailer: Couche-Tard (120 Boulevard du Séminaire, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu)
