$1,000,000Centre-du-Québec: Upon his return to the Belle Province, he picked up some cheese curds and a Québec Max ticket

Montréal, October 7, 2020 – After working in Alberta for the past 12 years, Jonathan Lajeunesse returned to settle down in Québec. The Centre-du-Québec resident decided to treat himself to some cheese curds and a few lottery tickets, including a Québec Max that won him $1 million in the September 8 draw.

In summary

  • Lottery: Québec Max
  • Prize: $1,000,000
  • Category: Additional prize
  • Draw date: September 8, 2020
  • Winner’s place of residence: Centre-du-Québec
  • Retailer: Marché Bonichoix (445 Rue Principale, Ham-Nord)
  • The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec office in Quebec City

Highlights

  • Having found a job this past summer, Jonathan decided to return to his native province of Québec.
  • Cheese curds were pretty hard to find in Alberta, so since he’s been back, Jonathan would buy some as a treat every time he’d stop at a convenience store, along with a soft drink and lottery tickets.
  • Only two weeks after the move, one of the three tickets he bought turned out to be his stroke of luck.
  • After checking his Québec Max ticket on his smartphone, he took the afternoon off work to contact a tax adviser.
  • Although the winner still couldn’t believe he’d won when he picked up his prize, his father was even more difficult to convince, as Jonathan is a prankster.
  • The winner has lots of plans: buy a house with a garage, pay off his car and motorcycle and, especially, start a business.

COVID-19: How to claim your prize

As part of the collective effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of its customers and employees, the Montréal and Quebec City prize claim offices are open by appointment only for prize claims amounting to $10,000 or more. Right now, sending in your prize claim by mail is the safest and most efficient way to claim a prize amounting to less than $10,000. Prizes amounting to $600 or less can be claimed at any Loto-Québec retailer.

Please note: Owners of physical lottery tickets with an expiry date between March 17 and September 17, 2020, inclusively who’ve won a prize will have an additional six months to claim it. The payment terms for prizes won on lotoquebec.com remain the same.
