Loto‑Québec turns 50 Loterie mensuelle—Loto‑Québec’s first lottery game ever—is back again 50 years later!

Montréal, January 27, 2020 — To celebrate turning 50, Loto-Québec is thrilled to announce that Loterie mensuelle—the corporation’s very first lottery launched in January 1970—is back! Loterie mensuelle tickets go on sale as of today for six whole weeks at the very same price as Day 1: $2. The draw will be held March 14, 2020, exactly 50 years after Loto-Québec’s very first draw. This time around, however, there’ll be five $125,000 jackpots up for grabs!

Loto-Québec has made a lot of headway since 1970 and has never stopped evolving and growing. Turning 50 is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our very first lottery, which was a resounding success at the time and the game that helped us crown our first winners,” says President and Chief Executive Officer Lynne Roiter.

  • To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Loto-Québec is going back to basics and relaunching Loterie mensuelle. Tickets go on sale January 27 with five $125,000 jackpots up for grabs.

  • Leading up to the first draw, a gala was held at Théâtre Saint-Denis in Montréal. The winners were unveiled on live TV.
