Daniel checked his ticket using Loto-Québec’s Lotteries app.
Believing that he’d won $1,000, he went to a retailer to confirm the win using the self-serve ticket checker.
Seeing all the zeros line up on the screen, he asked the clerk to validate the ticket.
It’s only when he received the validation coupon that he understood that he had become a millionaire thanks to the Extra grand prize.
“It didn’t sink in at first, but now I know it’s true!” said the winner as he received his cheque.
Just a few months shy of retirement, the new millionaire admitted that this infusion of cash will be very useful.
