$1,000,000A Laurentides resident wins a Maxmillions prize with a ticket purchased online

Montréal, December 18, 2020 — Laurentides resident Francis Thifault took home a Maxmillions prize, i.e. $1,000,000, in the December 1 Lotto Max draw with a ticket he purchased at lotoquebec.com.

In summary

  • Lottery: Lotto Max (with a ticket purchased online)
  • Prize: $1,000,000
  • Category: Maxmillions
  • Draw date: December 1, 2020
  • Winner’s place of residence: Laurentides
  • Prize claim centre: Loto-Québec head office, Montréal

  • A few months ago, Francis opened an account on lotoquebec.com in order to buy his lottery tickets online.

  • “It’s quicker and easier, and you always have access to your ticket and information. It’s really great!” he shared.

  • The day after the draw, he checked the results on his phone via the Lotteries app and found out he was a millionaire!

  • Shocked, he double-checked the draw results on Loto-Québec’s website. He wanted to be sure he’d read it right.

  • Once it was confirmed that he’d won, Francis broke the good news to his wife, who didn’t believe him at first.

  • The lucky winner is still thinking over how he’ll spend the money, but says he plans to invest some of it.

COVID-19: How to claim your prize

As part of the collective effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of its customers and employees, Loto-Québec has reopened its prize claim offices in Montréal and Quebec City by appointment only, and only for prize claims amounting to $10,000 or more. Right now, the safest and most efficient way to claim a prize amounting to less than $10,000 is by mail. Prizes amounting to $600 or less can be claimed at any Loto-Québec retailer.

Please note: Owners of physical lottery tickets with an expiry date between March 17 and September 17, 2020, inclusively who’ve won a prize will have an additional six months to claim it. The payment terms for prizes won on lotoquebec.com remain the same.
