Célébration 2021Dominic Smith from Laval: Our latest millionaire!

Montréal, January 10, 2021 — Getting pampered for a whole weekend, taking part in a one-of-a-kind show, and becoming a millionaire, all in the comfort of his own home—that’s what Dominic Smith from Laval just experienced during the Célébration 2021 event.

Luck was on Dominic Smith’s side during the qualifying draw, which featured 43 finalists from different regions throughout Québec. The winning ticket was purchased in a Couche-Tard, located at 3395 Boulevard Dagenais, in Laval.

“I’m just an ordinary guy from Laval, and I won!” said Mr. Smith, who won a Célébration entry thanks to the 2nd chance promotion.

As for Michel Bourbonnais from Montréal, and Mégan Garant from the Capitale-Nationale region, they each pocketed a cool $100,000.

“Congratulations to Dominic Smith, and to all the Célébration 2021 winners. I am very proud of the hard work put in by all those who make this event possible every year. They met the challenge of adapting the format to hold a safe event while keeping things fun. Célébration 2021 was a novel edition tailored to the current situation,” said Isabelle Jean, President of Operations – Lotteries, and Vice-President of Public Affairs at Loto Québec.

An heartwarming TV event

The Célébration 2021 event, which aired tonight on TVA, was adapted to the current circumstances so as to avoid any travel between Québec regions. The winners of a participation télé (i.e. an entry for the televised draw) still got to enjoy special treats and surprises throughout the weekend, just like in previous editions of Célébration.

As for TV viewers, they were treated to quite a show (directed by Joël Legendre) and got to witness the excitement of the finalists! Hosting duties were entrusted for the very first time to Ludivine Reding, while Sébastien Benoit was tasked with revealing the winning numbers. The televised event also featured the following guest stars: Bleu Jeans Bleu; Joe Bocan, Marie Carmen and Marie Denise Pelletier; Roxane Bruneau; Jacques Michel; Sarahmée, accompanied by the Rockwell Family dance crew; Guylaine Tanguay; and Gilles Girard, who made a surprise appearance.

During this 32nd edition of Célébration, several prizes were also drawn for ticket holders at home, including a $5,000,000 grand prize and five $1,000,000 prizes. The winning numbers are listed at loteries.lotoquebec.com.
