COVID-19Loto-Québec teams up with La Tablée des Chefs to distribute over 35,000 meals a week to people in need

Montréal, April 17, 2020 — Loto-Québec is partnering up with La Tablée des Chefs through Les Cuisines Solidaires, a project aimed at helping people in need during the COVID-19 crisis. Next Monday, the Casino de Montréal will reopen its kitchens and will already be providing a great number of meals in its first week, as it sets up operations. Once the kitchens are fully up and running, production will increase substantially, delivering more than 35,000 meals to the most vulnerable members of society every week.

To help the Food Banks of Québec, La Tablée des Chefs recently launched Les Cuisines Solidaires, mobilizing the food industry and chefs of Quebec in order to produce more than 800,000 meals and feed people in need during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

“We're happy to welcome Loto-Québec and the Casino de Montréal into our Cuisines Solidaires project. Their infrastructure and expertise will enable them to contribute significantly to the project’s overall output. Thanks to their support and that of the project’s other partners, we'll soon reach the mark of one million meals,” said Jean-François Archambault, General Director and founder of La Tablée des Chefs.

“Loto-Québec is excited to take part in La Tablée des Chefs’ generous initiative and to reopen the Casino de Montréal’s kitchens during these difficult times in order to provide thousands of meals to the most vulnerable among us,” said Lynne Roiter, President and CEO of Loto-Québec.

On March 12, Québec’s casinos closed their doors. Just one week later, they donated several pallets of foodstuffs and supplies stocked in their warehouses—including more than 30,000 N95 masks— to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and all 19 Moisson centres across Québec. Loto-Québec also donated $1,000,000 to the Moisson network.
