$1,000,000A new scratch ticket millionaire in Montréal

Montréal, March 14, 2018 – Montréal resident Giuseppe DiCarlo pocketed the million-dollar grand prize of the Canada-wide scratch ticket X.

  • Lottery: X
  • Prize won: $1,000,000
  • Draw date: March 2, 2018
  • Winner’s place of residence: Montréal
  • Retailer: Petro-Canada (7667, boulevard Maurice-Duplessis, Montréal)
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec’s head office in Montréal

  • Mr. DiCarlo is in the habit of buying a scratch ticket once a week when filling up his car.
  • His last stop changed his life. The cashier, who is used to seeing him, already prepared his X scratch ticket for the week. But Mr. DiCarlo told the cashier he wasn’t interested that week. When she said that she had especially prepared his ticket, he changed his mind. Happily for him, he made the right choice.
  • He only scratched his ticket when he arrived home at the end of his work day.
  • Mr. DiCarlo checked his ticket using the self-serve ticket checker and said his legs got shaky when he saw the amount. He immediately went to see his son, who had just lost his job, to show him the ticket. His son began to cry tears of joy.
  • He feels relieved at the fact that he can now pay off his mortgage and bills, help his children and thank those who have helped him in the past.

  • “When I realized I had won, I saw $1,000. I was very happy, but then I started counting the zeroes. $10,000? $100,000?, $1,000,000! I won $1,000,000! I began to wonder of it was a prank and that there were maybe hidden cameras!” said the winner.
