$1,000,000Lotto Max: Two Côte-Nord friends split a million!

Montréal, May 31, 2018 – Côte-Nord residents Roger Marcoux and Mario Beaudin won a million-dollar prize at the May 18 Lotto Max draw.

In short

  • Lottery: Lotto Max
  • Prize won: $1,000,000
  • Category: Maxmillions
  • Draw date: May 18, 2018
  • Winner’s place of residence: Côte-Nord
  • Retailer: Tabagie des Îles (8 Boulevard des Îles, Port-Cartier)
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec’s Québec City office

Highlights

  • More than just colleagues, Mr. Marcoux and Mr. Beaudin are friends, and they enjoy playing the lottery together.
  • Roger checked their ticket with a self-serve ticket checker. A message appeared instructing him to see the retailer.
  • As he didn’t understand what the problem was, he checked his other tickets, but none of them were winners.
  • He then gave the mysterious ticket to the cashier for validation. She informed him he had won $1,000, but in a few seconds, he saw $1,000,000 appear!
  • Mr. Marcoux then went to his friend Mario’s house to tell him the good news.
  • Because it was still quite early, Mr. Beaudin was surprised to see his friend at the door. Even after he left, Mr. Beaudin was in such a state of disbelief that he called his friend three times to be sure.
  • The two men have their feet on the ground and intend to take time to reflect before making any decisions on what they might do with their winnings. One this is certain, they both intend on making investments that will secure them a comfortable retirement.
