$10,985,156A new millionaire in Lanaudière thanks to Lotto 6/49

Montréal, May 24, 2018 – Lanaudière resident Denis Pigeon won the Lotto 6/49 jackpot of $10,985,156 at the May 16 draw. With his winnings, he plans on spending some good times with the family.

Highlights

  • Not knowing that he had won, Mr. Pigeon went to check his ticket at the grocery store the day after the draw. So he was truly shocked to see he had pocketed nearly $11,000,000!
  • The Super C cashier was thrilled and asked her co-workers to gather around and celebrate with the winner.
  • When going back to his car, Mr. Pigeon clutched his ticket tightly: “It first, I had put it on the inside of the car door, but then thought that the wind might blow it away and I’d lose it! So then I put it in the glove compartment, just to play it safe.” Once back home, he put it away in a secure location.
  • “I let the dust settle before coming in to claim my winnings,” he explained, waiting several days before coming to Loto-Québec’s head offices.

De beaux projets

  • “We will definitely use this money to spend time with the family in a cottage somewhere,” he said.
  • “I might get a bigger house,” he added. His spouse quipped: “I don’t know about that! We haven’t yet discussed the matter fully!”
  • “We have loads of dreams to make a reality, but we will be taking our time to fully reflect on what’s next!” replied Mr. Pigeon in conclusion.
