$5,000,000Montréal: Another millionaire thanks to Célébration 2018!

Montréal, January 30, 2018 – Montrealer Jason Olive won the $5 million at-home prize during the January 14 Célébration 2018 gala.

In short

  • Lottery: Célébration 2018
  • Prize won: $5,000,000
  • Category: “At-Home” grand prize
  • Draw date: January 14, 2018
  • Winner’s place of residence: Montréal
  • Retailer: Couche-Tard (4032 Boulevard Saint-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux)
  • The retailer will receive a $50,000 prize, equal to 1% of the win.
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec head office, Montréal

Highlights

  • Mr. Olive got a Célébration 2018 ticket as a birthday gift.
  • The retailer at the store he frequents reminded him that he should check his ticket in case he won a free one.
  • As he didn’t know exactly what he should scratch to check if he had won, he asked the retailer to show him. He used a dollar coin in his pocket to scratch the ticket. Then, the retailer checked the ticket on his terminal.
  • The retailer stayed very calm and, in a low voice, asked him if he knew what he’d won. He discreetly brought up a little bench, asked Mr. Olive to sit down and told him to look at the screen. That’s how the winner learned that he had won the At-Home grand prize. “I kept my lucky looney in a box at home,” he said.
  • His spouse, who was away on vacation with her friend, learned the news a little later. She immediately bought a plane ticket to return home early.
  • While Mr. Olive loves cars, he will give himself some time to consider judicious investments before buying one.
