$125,000Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean resident wins this year’s Pool Mise-o-jeu!

Montréal, April 19, 2018 – Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean resident Christian Gauthier is the big winner of Pool Mise-o-jeu annuel, pocketing a hefty $125,000!

Summary

  • Lottery: Pool Mise-o-jeu annuel (hockey pool)
  • Prize won: $125,000
  • Category: Grand Prize
  • Draw date: April 11, 2018
  • Winner’s place of residence: Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec’s headquarters in Montréal

Highlights

  • Mr. Gauthier participates in several pools. He loves hockey and hockey statistics: “I know every player and every trio of every team,” he says.
  • In mid-February, when he was ranked 10th, Mr. Gauthier already had the feeling he was going to win the pool: “When Nathan Mackinnon returned after his injury, I called a few friends to tell them I was going to win the pool!” he remembered.
  • During the last week of the season, when things were really looking good, he took off time from work and set up two TVs to make sure he wouldn’t miss anything, watching every game!
  • His strategy: to create trios (he had three Tampa Bay players and three Colorado players), predict outcomes (he dared to trade Patrick Kane for Anze Kopitar at the beginning of October) and, of course, get a little lucky!
  • “The format of Pool Mise-o-jeu annuel is ideal. Because players are ranked according to their value, you need to know how to make decisions that make the most out of each point, a bit like in the stock market,” mentioned Mr. Gauthier.
