100th millionaire of the yearLady Luck continues to smile upon Quebecers!

Montréal, September 18, 2017 – One week after the September 6 Lotto 6/49 draw that made them multi-millionaires, the last two of a five-member group dropped by Loto-Québec to collect their share of the $16,042,016 jackpot. Yves Grenier from Montérégie and Toan Tri Le from Montréal each took home $3,208,403!

There’s no doubt that Lady Luck is smiling on Quebecers this year. In fact, Loto-Québec is pleased to announce that Mr. Le became its 100th millionaire last Friday when he picked up his share of the prize.

Summary

  • Lottery: Lotto 6/49 played with Formule groupe
  • Prize won: $16,042,016
  • Category: Jackpot
  • Draw date: September 6, 2017
  • Winners’ place of residence: Montérégie and Montréal
  • Retailer: Shell (13200 Rue Sherbrooke Est, Pointe-aux-Trembles)
  • Claim centre: Loto-Québec’s head office in Montréal

Early wedding engagement to celebrate the win!

  • Mr. Grenier started to play the lottery more frequently in December 2016 when he started his own business.
  • The store’s young manager said: “Sir, aren’t you more excited than that?”
  • When he validated his ticket, he was so stunned that he simply did not believe it.
  • With the winning ticket in his trembling hand, he quickly went to his spouse’s workplace to tell her the good news.
  • “Yeah, right!” exclaimed his spouse, who is used to her partner’s practical jokes.
  • The winner had already purchased the engagement ring for his mariage proposal that he planned doing during a November plane trip to the Dominican Republic.
  • He ended up asking the big question that same evening.

Big surprise!

  • Mr. Le found out he was a multi-millionaire when he had his ticket validated at a metro station 10 days after the draw.
  • The winner has been playing games of chance for the past twenty years “in the hope, like everyone else, of becoming a millionaire!” Mission accomplished, even if Mr. Le could hardly believe it!
  • It finally sunk in when his ticket was validated and confirmed at Loto-Québec’s Winners Lounge.
  • “I still won’t believe it until I have the cheque in my hands,” added Mr. Le.
  • Not realizing the scope of the event, he admitted that he had not yet told his wife, children, parents or four brothers: “No one knows!” exclaimed Mr. Le.
  • Mr. Le plans to buy a house and shower his family with gifts.
  • As for other plans, the winner said that he and his family love to travel. He’s thinking about starting his adventures in Japan and Korea, in first class of course!
