Québec 49$2,000,000 - “It was as if the terminal was exploding!” said the Chaudière-Appalaches winner

Montréal, November 9, 2016 – Chaudière-Appalaches resident Rémi Bélanger is still in a state of shock after winning the $2,000,000 grand prize at the October 29 draw of Québec 49.

Summary
• Lottery: Québec 49
• Prize won: $2,000,000
• Category: grand prize
• Draw date: October 29, 2016
• Winner’s place of residence: Chaudière-Appalaches
• Retailer: SCA La Seigneurie (379 Rue Principale, Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage)
• The retailer will receive a $20,000 commission, equal to 1% of the prize.
• Claim centre: Loto-Québec office in Québec City

Highlights
• Mr. Bélanger has been very excited since he validated his winning Québec 49 ticket at the retailer.
• Every week, he plays what he calls the “full kit”: a trifecta grouping together Lotto 6/49, Québec 49 and Extra.
• Mr. Bélanger loves to play jokes, so no one in his family believed him when he called to give them the good news.
• With his cheque in hand, the lucky winner declared that he was on Cloud 9.
• The winner plans on buying a Jeep.
• He’ll be making a deposit at the bank before doing too much shopping, just to take some time to regain his composure.

Quote
• “It was as if the terminal was exploding, all very surreal! I saw I had won $2,000,000, and people were gathering around to congratulate me; I don’t think I realized what was happening,” said Mr. Bélanger.
