Montréal, November 4, 2026 — Longtime friends Lauraine Fortin Gingras and Patricia Contré Voyer, from Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Laurentides, respectively, took home $1,000,000 in the October 24 Lotto 6/49 draw. Despite living far apart, they’ve continued playing the lottery together.
“We won a million dollars!”
- Fortin Gingras and Contré Voyer met at work in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Although Contré Voyer moved to the Laurentides region several years ago, the two friends continued their tradition of playing the lottery together.
- Fortin Gingras was the one who checked the ticket using the Loto-Québec app. “I saw the amount appear... I kept counting the zeros!” Excited, she immediately called her friend, who was over 450 km away, and told her, “We won a million dollars!”
- Thanks to their respective half-million, Fortin Gingras plans to travel to Scotland with her spouse, whereas Contré Voyer will fly to Switzerland to visit her daughter. And this time, it’ll be a first-class trip!
The winning ticket was purchased at the Voisin – Libre-service Shell Beauséjour gas station on 202 3e Avenue in Val-d’Or. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
