“What are all these zeros?”Bois-Francs resident wins $46,000,000 with Lotto 6/49

Montréal, September 4, 2025 – Claude Boucher, a resident of the Bois-Francs region in Centre-du-Québec, won the Gold Ball Jackpot of $46,000,000 in the August 27 Lotto 6/49 draw. A long-time employee of Cégep de Victoriaville, Claude purchased the winning ticket on the Loto-Québec gaming website. He celebrated his win on September 4 at the Salon de jeux de Trois-Rivières, surrounded by family.

Quote

“The last week of August was exceptionally lucky for Quebecers!” said Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec. “The Grande Vie lottery game top prize of $1,000 a day for life was won twice in Québec, in addition to the $46,000,000 jackpot we’re handing out today.”

Highlights

  • Claude Boucher had been playing the same Lotto 6/49 numbers for years, but it was the Gold Ball draw that finally handed him the whopping $46-million jackpot.
  • The day after the draw, he went through his emails and found out he was a winner. “I was scrolling quickly and I thought, ‘$46,000 isn’t too bad! But what are all those zeros? Oh, it’s $46,000,000!’” After checking the results on the Loto-Québec website and his online gaming account, he realized that he had won $46,000,000! He waited a few hours before announcing the news to his wife, an emotional moment they’ll never forget.
  • Now Claude is thinking about retiring earlier than planned, though he doesn’t want to leave his bosses in the lurch. He’s dreaming of a trip to Switzerland, where he lived with his wife in the 1980s, and plans to spoil his loved ones.
