Montréal, April 4, 2025 — Ross Strang Horrocks and Deborah Jane Stanway, a couple from Estrie, won the $2,000,000 top prize in the March 19 Québec 49 draw. “The lottery counter was frantic!” Horrocks said when claiming the prize at Loto-Québec.

Highlights

• The couple initially wanted to buy a Lotto Max ticket but got a Lotto 6/49 ticket instead.
• They won a free play for the March 19 draw, to which they added the Double Jeu option— and won the Québec 49 top prize!
• At the retailer, the excitement was palpable when they validated their ticket. “Everyone was wondering what was happening!” recalled Horrocks, still surprised at his luck.
• The couple plan to use their windfall to spoil their loved ones. Stanway plans to follow in her spouse’s footsteps and retire.

The winning ticket was purchased at the IGA Extra at 1531 Rue du Sud in Cowansville. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $20,000.

Estrie’s lucky streak continues!

Another Estrie couple, Denise Gauthier and Charles Bisaillon, won the $5,000,000 Classic Jackpot in the March 8 Lotto 6/49 draw. Estrie is doubly lucky with two significant wins in under two weeks.
